Tower Incremental Upgrade Priority

A practical buy order for climb, resources, Starforge, shop, and rebirth.

Last updated:

This Upgrade Priority guide tells Tower Incremental players what to fund first so stairs, doors, mining, smelting, wood, crystals, essence, Starforge, shop potions/trails/totems, and rebirth stay in sync. It pairs with the Tier List Hub and the Glyphs Tier List. Exact upgrade names and costs can shift with UPD markers, so treat the order as a priority ladder, not a pixel-perfect spreadsheet.

Lucky CStudios launched the place on 2026-09-04. Live titles reached UPD4 by early October 2026. When numbers move, keep the ladder logic: unlock the next bottleneck, then multiply it.

Priority ladder (overview)

  1. Climb & doors — height access beats everything else early.
  2. Mine & smelt — metals/ores into iron and related outputs.
  3. Wood & crystals — expand gather beyond the mine.
  4. Essence orbs — bridge raw gather into higher systems.
  5. Starforge — convert stockpiles into stronger progress.
  6. Core upgrades that shorten rebirth — only after the engine runs.
  7. Shop potions & totems — active power when currency is surplus.
  8. Trails & cosmetics — last, unless you are done progressing.

Skip ahead only when a door or recipe explicitly demands it. Buying Starforge nodes before you can feed wood/crystals/essence usually wastes a cycle.

Tier S buys (always early)

Stair throughput upgrades. Anything that reduces time between floors or improves climb reliability is S. More floors means more resource belts and door checks per hour.

Door progression unlocks. If a purchase is required to open the next gate, it jumps the queue even if the tooltip looks boring. Soft-locking behind a door because you bought a cosmetic trail is the classic mistake. Pair stubborn gates with the Doors Guide.

Basic mining unlocks. Ores and metals are the first industrial loop. Fund pick/node power until bags fill during normal climbs.

Smelt capacity or speed. Mining without smelting creates useless ore piles. Keep smelt close behind mine so iron (and related outputs) actually appear.

Tier A buys (stabilize the engine)

Woodcutting power. Trees feed crafts and Starforge recipes. Rank A once doors and smelt are comfortable.

Crystal gather. Crystals often gate midgame sinks. Fund them when recipes stall, not before you understand the sink.

Essence orb collection. Essence sits between gather and conversion. A-tier when Starforge or shop recipes start asking for it every cycle.

Starforge entry nodes. Once mats flow, forge upgrades become A. If forge idles, step back to wood/crystal/essence instead of more forge levels. Deep dive: Starforge Guide.

Tier B buys (optimize, do not obsess)

Quality-of-life bag or claim helpers. Nice when you AFK or multitask; not worth delaying a door.

Minor income pads. Useful after S/A pillars exist; weak as your first spends.

Potion efficiency. Shop potions help push sessions—buy when you already clear doors on schedule. Timing detail lives in the Shop Guide.

Totem support. Totems that buff climb or gather belong in B/A depending on effect strength; evaluate against your bottleneck like a glyph role. See also the Shop Guide.

Tier C–F buys (delay)

C — Specialty nodes for content you have not reached. Do not pre-buy heavy Starforge branches before you see the recipes.

D — Trail cosmetics and flair. Fun, but they rarely open doors.

F — Panic spends right before rebirth. Dumping currency into vanity or niche nodes you will immediately prestige past is reverse priority.

Rebirth timing and the ladder

Rebirth is a multiplier on future cycles, not a panic button. A clean rule set:

  • Rebirth when the next climb would reclaim key S/A upgrades quickly and your current door wall feels stale.
  • Do not rebirth mid-purchase on a required door unlock.
  • After rebirth, rebuy climb → mine/smelt → wood/crystal/essence → Starforge before shop trails.
  • Glyph keeps from the glyphs list should match the same ladder; income and climb glyphs make post-rebirth recovery faster.

If you use optional automation from the Scripts Hub (Auto Upgrade, Auto Rebirth, Auto Shop), cap what autos can buy. Unattended Auto Shop can waste wallets on trails while Auto Rebirth fires too early.

Session plans by stage

First hour. Manual only. Learn stairs, first doors, mine, and smelt. Buy only climb + mine + smelt. Read Getting Started.

Early midgame. Add wood and crystals. Touch essence when it appears. Peek at Starforge requirements before dumping currency.

Midgame. Starforge becomes the conversion heart. Shop potions/totems support long push sessions. Rebirth on a timer you can repeat.

Late cycles. Optimize income and gather upgrades, refine glyph roles, and only then collect trails. Watch UPD4 notes for system shifts.

Bottleneck checklist

Ask these questions before every big purchase:

  1. Is a door blocking height? Fund the unlock (Doors Guide).
  2. Are ores piling unsmitten? Fund smelt.
  3. Is Starforge idle? Fund the missing mat line (wood, crystals, essence) or read the Starforge Guide.
  4. Is currency the wall? Fund income and keep strong glyphs.
  5. Is the run just slow? Fund climb throughput and evaluate speed-related glyphs carefully.
  6. Am I about to rebirth? Stop cosmetic spends.

Pairing with glyphs and shop

Upgrades create the machine; glyphs multiply it; shop items burst it. Priority stays on upgrades until the machine runs without constant babysitting. Potions are for pushes through stubborn doors (Doors Guide). Totems are semi-permanent supports—buy when effects match climb or gather (Shop Guide). Trails wait. Starforge spends should follow the feed order in the Starforge Guide.

Community letter ranks on the Tier List Hub describe relative value. Your inventory and door number still decide the next click.

After patches

When the Roblox title marker moves (UPD3 menus on scripts vs UPD4 live title, etc.), re-walk the ladder:

  • Confirm doors still need the same unlock style.
  • Re-time mine → smelt → forge.
  • Check whether shop potion/totem prices or effects changed.
  • Skim the Updates Hub and Official Links for developer posts on the group page.

No fabricated changelog belongs here—only systems we know exist and how to prioritize them.

Buy the unlock that frees the next loop. Everything else is decoration until the tower moves again.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Tower Incremental questions.

What should I upgrade first in Tower Incremental?

Prioritize climb throughput and any door unlocks, then mining and smelting, before heavy Starforge or cosmetic shop spends.

When should I rebirth relative to upgrades?

Rebirth when recovery of core S/A upgrades is fast and progress feels gated. Avoid dumping currency into vanity right before prestige.

Are shop trails worth buying early?

Usually no. Fund potions or totems that help climb or gather only after the resource engine is stable; trails wait.

Does Auto Upgrade follow this priority?

Not by default. If you use scripts, restrict auto-buys or you may purchase low-priority nodes and rebirth at bad times.
